Ready to Face Social Change and Technological Advances in the World of Work Through the MBKM Program
Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) is one of the flagship programs of the Indonesian government. The existence of the MBKM program has been emphasized through Permendikbud No. 53 of 2023 concerning Quality Assurance of Higher Education so that students have the right to study outside their study program for a maximum of three semesters. This policy provides an opportunity for students to improve and enrich their insights and competencies in the world of work. This is in accordance with career projections and optimization of each student’s potential in the future.
MBKM not only aims to make students able to follow changes, but also able to anticipate future changes. This program is also implemented to improve graduate competencies, both soft skills and hard skills, so that in the future students will be more prepared and relevant to the needs of the times. Experiential learning programs with flexible paths are expected to facilitate students in developing their potential according to their interests and talents.
The MBKM program held by the Biology Education Study Program partners with several institutions such as TKL Ecopark, Pasionaon Laboratory, Gunung Tidar Botanical Garden, the Center for Teacher Leaders (BBGP) D.I.Yogyakarta, the Center for Village Community Training and Empowerment (BBPPMD) Yogyakarta. In addition, it also partners with several schools, namely SMA IT Ihsanul Fikri Magelang and SMA Islam Secang. Students who participate in MBKM activities both in government agencies, companies, and educational institutions will gain experience and course recognition.
